About the position

The Fleet Maintenance Technician I (2nd Shift) position at Colorado Springs Utilities involves providing onsite fleet services for a diverse range of vehicles, including light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. The role is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency of over 2,000 fleet vehicles, ensuring that utility crews can deliver safe and efficient services to the community. Technicians will work alongside experienced colleagues to perform preventative maintenance and repairs, contributing to the overall reliability of the fleet.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles, including checking and changing fluids and oils, and replacing filters.
  • Maintain and replace tires, belts, hoses, wiper blades, and conduct minor welding services.
  • Inspect tires for pressure and wear, balancing, repairing, and/or replacing them as needed.
  • Conduct brake repairs and check/replacing belts and hoses.
  • Wash, detail, wax, and clean vehicles, and replace wiper blades.
  • Pick up parts from suppliers and perform customer service-related functions such as picking up and delivering vehicles.
  • Collaborate with Master and Level II Fleet Technicians on minor services and repairs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in fleet maintenance, diesel, or automotive mechanic capacity.
  • Possession of a Light or Heavy Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification is valued.
  • Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required.
  • Possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
