Fleet Manager (FedEx)

About the position

The Fleet Manager at Blackland Transport, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and staff at the Perrysburg FedEx terminal. This role requires strong leadership and decision-making skills, effective communication, and the ability to manage a fleet of trucks while ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the everyday operations of a fleet of 10+ trucks, including scheduling and tracking routine maintenance and repairs.
• Manage driver hiring, orientation, and retention, ensuring adequate staffing for all assigned runs.
• Schedule drivers according to hours of service guidelines and optimize routes for efficiency.
• Conduct biweekly team safety meetings and provide one-on-one training as needed.
• Ensure proper pre-trip and post-trip inspections are performed and document any accidents appropriately.
• Manage all aspects of renting, operating, insuring, and returning rental trucks.
• Report daily and weekly to upper management on routes and procedures.

Requirements

• Previous management experience or FedEx experience preferred.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Clean driving record with no accidents and no more than 1 minor violation in the last three years.
• Must pass drug screen and DOT physical.
• Able to handle packages up to 150 lbs.
