About the position

The Fleet Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring safety compliance within the delivery fleet of Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits. This role involves collaborating with the Operations Leadership Team and Logistics Managers to maintain safety standards, train transportation associates, and investigate vehicle incidents. The position requires a strong understanding of DOT regulations and the ability to implement safety training and initiatives across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Operations Leadership Team and Logistics Managers to ensure safety compliance for the delivery fleet.
  • Train transportation associates on organizational, operational, safety, and service policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and report all vehicle collisions in a timely manner according to company policy.
  • Assign vehicle investigations to appropriate field personnel and review findings for accuracy and completion.
  • Create and implement Vehicle Collision Review Committees at selected locations.
  • Monitor compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR's) and company policies through ELD and EDVIR.
  • Track fleet metrics to identify areas needing improvement and areas meeting/exceeding business goals and KPIs.
  • Conduct monthly fleet safety training or meetings per company policy.
  • Collaborate with EHS Manager on fleet safety projects and conduct DOT regulatory training.
  • Conduct ride-alongs with poor performing drivers to instruct on safe driving behaviors.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience in DOT Compliance or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related degree preferred.
  • Complete 'Certified Transportation Professional' certification within 12 months of hire.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification (or within 60 days of hire).
  • Complete 'Smith System Driving Instructor' course within six months of hire.
  • Complete Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification by ASSP within two years of hire.
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSR's requirements pertaining to driver qualification files, hours-of-service, drug/alcohol testing, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
