About the position

The Fleet Technician B is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment operated by the company. This role involves troubleshooting, inspecting, and repairing specialized equipment, hydraulic systems, heating and ventilation systems, and various vehicle systems. The technician will also maintain tools and equipment, keep records, and assist in training other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Service and repair boom/pedestal assemblies of specialized equipment.
  • Service and repair hydraulic systems including troubleshooting and replacing components.
  • Service and repair heating and ventilation systems, including A/C units.
  • Troubleshoot and repair winch assemblies.
  • Service and repair steering systems of company vehicles.
  • Service and repair air brake systems of company vehicles.
  • Service and repair hydraulic and electric braking systems.
  • Inspect and service differentials and transmission assemblies of company vehicles.
  • Service and repair fuel and exhaust systems, including computer control systems.
  • Assist others in diagnosing complex problems.
  • Operate company vehicles and associated equipment.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Maintain records and submit reports as required.
  • Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in training other employees.
  • Perform less skilled work as assigned.
  • Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
  • Assist employees of equal or higher classification.
  • Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis with hydraulic and diesel repair experience.
  • Graduation from an automotive trade school with diesel engine experience is highly desirable.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • Must obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of entry date into the Fleet Technician B classification.
  • Must obtain Fluid Power Society Certification and two applicable ASE certifications within 24 months of entry date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specialized vehicle maintenance and repairs.
  • Familiarity with computer systems utilized by Fleet Services organization.
