About the position
The Control Systems Engineer at FlexSteel Pipe is responsible for implementing manufacturing equipment projects and ensuring reliable automation in a manufacturing environment. This role involves advanced PLC programming, troubleshooting, and collaboration with internal and external teams to enhance equipment reliability and operational performance.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and address automation equipment challenges to provide effective control system solutions.
- Maintain and address machine control systems, including PLC controllers and industrial networks.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and maintenance teams, as well as external vendors, to complete root cause analysis and implement solutions.
- Act as a primary technical consultant for Automation and Control projects within the manufacturing facility.
- Champion safety procedures and comply with all company safety policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent of 10 years experience in Computer Sciences, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Extensive PLC programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven record in industrial controls, including PLC programming and Factory Talk HMI development.
- Experience with Rockwell Automation Software and Allen-Bradley RS Logix PLC software.
- Understanding of Extrusion, Mechanical Systems, and Rotating equipment.
- Electrical knowledge of control circuits and ability to operate a 3-phase motor.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and SolidWorks software.
- Experience with networked VFDs (EtherNet, DeviceNet, emphasis on Yaskawa drives).
