About the position

The Flight Control Systems Engineer consultant will be responsible for designing and testing Fly-by-Wire Flight Control Systems (FCS) for a futuristic Urban Air Taxi aircraft. This role involves working in a rapid development environment with a small team on cutting-edge aerospace technology, focusing on systems architecture, software design, and integration of complex hardware and software components.

Responsibilities

• Design and test Fly-by-Wire Flight Control Systems (FCS) with embedded software and complex hardware.
• Develop systems architecture, system and software design, and redundancy management.
• Integrate electronic hardware, input sensors, and actuator controls.
• Create unique air vehicle control mechanisms and autonomous systems.
• Manage requirements, specifications, and interface management.
• Conduct system safety assessments and verification testing in simulation and integration labs.
• Participate in aircraft flight test activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
• Familiarity with embedded hardware and software design.
• Experience with system architecture creation and design diagrams.
• Experience with requirements traceability and verification.
• Familiarity with avionics systems and inertial systems.
• Experience with flight control system development and testing in a lab environment.
• Experience with aircraft installation, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in MathWorks MATLAB / Simulink, C/C++, and bench tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with data protocols such as RS-422/485 UART, ARINC 429, Ethernet, SPI.
• Familiarity with RTOS, Linux OS, or bare metal environments.
