About the position

The Flight Coordinator at Contour Airlines plays a crucial role in supporting flight crew members with operational control of flights. This position involves preflight planning, monitoring flight progress, and ensuring compliance with Federal Regulations and company operations specifications. The Flight Coordinator is responsible for maintaining safety and efficiency in flight operations, coordinating with various departments, and providing essential information to pilots.

Responsibilities

  • Support flight crew members with operational control of flights.
  • Responsible for preflight planning and delay management in compliance with Federal Regulations.
  • Plan flights considering enroute winds and weather, balancing safety and economy.
  • Determine minimum fuel supply necessary for safe flight completion, including alternate airports.
  • Provide preflight briefings to pilots, including aircraft and flight status, and current weather reports.
  • Monitor the progress of each flight and issue necessary safety information.
  • Cancel flights if they cannot operate safely as planned.
  • Reroute or redirect flights based on economic considerations and passenger convenience.
  • Recommend flight plan alternatives and coordinate aircraft diversions and recoveries.
  • Negotiate with air traffic control for alternative routes and delays.
  • Provide operations expertise to the Maintenance Department and System Operations Control.
  • Process data provided by flight crewmembers and stations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate required.
  • Minimum of two years dispatch experience preferred.
  • Extensive familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations, aeronautical charts, aviation weather, and flight planning.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
