About the position

The Flight Critical Software Developer Supervisor at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is responsible for the design, development, and modification of software applications for enterprise-wide end-user, system level, and data management. This role involves formulating plans for application development, ensuring compliance with software standards, and overseeing the integration of software applications within the computing environment. The supervisor will also guide less experienced developers and communicate with various stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Determine user requirements and specifications for software development.
  • Formulate detailed plans for the implementation of software solutions, including language, platform, and resource requirements.
  • Implement design through coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Deploy applications across the enterprise, ensuring cross-platform compliance and resource availability.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating the maintenance of enterprise solutions, including debugging and updates.
  • Plan for future applications based on new developments in computer technology.
  • Provide direction to less experienced developers.
  • Communicate with the software developer group, users, and management, and publish technical papers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Observe all laws and regulations while conducting business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in computer science, information systems, or related discipline.
  • Six or more years of software development experience with a bachelor's degree, four or more years with a master's degree, or two or more years with a PhD.
  • Thorough understanding of software development concepts, principles, and theory.
  • Ability to develop and communicate new concepts accurately in an evolving environment.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and coordination skills for work phases.
  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to perform complex tasks in one or more software development areas.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
