About the position

This National Guard position is for a FLIGHT ENGINEER (32) (Title 32), Position Description Number D2306000 and is part of the AR ANG 154 TRG SQ, National Guard. These positions are authorized for superior qualification consideration. If a selectee is deemed superior qualified for the position, they could start out as a Step 05 on the GS Pay scale. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

• Performs pre- and post-flight inspections, including checking the interior and exterior of the aircraft for mechanical and structural soundness.
• Operates and regulates environmental, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, pressurization, radar, and other systems as required by the flight manual.
• Monitors engine and aircraft systems performance during all phases of operation and provides the pilot with assessments of mission impact due to malfunctions.
• Reviews aircraft incidents, operational hazards, and accident reports to ensure flying safety.
• Manages Flight Crew Information File (FCIF) and disseminates pertinent information in a timely manner.

Requirements

• NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED.
• Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement.
• Minimum Military Grade: NLT E-3/A1C; Maximum Military Grade: NTE E-7/MSgt.
• Must possess or initiate a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation.
• Must complete mandatory Full-Time Support (FTS) Training at the Professional Education Center (PEC) within six months of assignment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience as a Flight Engineer, Aircraft Loadmaster, or Aerial Refueling Technician.
• Knowledge of capabilities, characteristics, and parameters of the C-130 aircraft.
