About the position

The Flight Engineer (Instructor) position within the Department of the Air Force is responsible for administering, scheduling, and conducting ground training to develop and upgrade the skills of flight engineer aircrew members. The role includes performing instructor duties in the C-5M aircraft and providing technical flight engineer training and proficiency instruction. The instructor will also be involved in mission planning and coordination, as well as various ground, pre-flight, and post-flight training duties.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, schedule, and conduct ground training for flight engineer aircrew members.
  • Perform aircrew duties as an instructor flight engineer in the C-5M.
  • Develop and provide technical flight engineer upgrade and proficiency training.
  • Accomplish requirements for instructing mission planning and coordination.
  • Conduct a variety of ground, pre-flight, and post-flight training duties.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems and equipment related to flight engineer functions.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and critique student performance.
  • Skills to perform preflight checks and inspections.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with military aircraft operations.
  • Familiarity with Air Force regulations related to flight duties.
