About The Position

The Flight Management Specialist serves a critical role in planning, analyzing, coordinating, managing, and flight-following complex USTRANSCOM validated requirements. This position supports high-level operations for the President, Joint Chiefs of Staff, DoD, and non-DoD agencies on a 24/7 basis, ensuring effective air transportation and mission success.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be registered for Selective Service (if applicable).
• Possess a current FAA approved Dispatcher Certification or obtain one within prescribed time limits.
• Familiarization with C-5, C-17, C-21, C-130, KC-135, KC-10 aircraft capabilities and limitations is highly desirable.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Current or recent pilot, navigator, or other aircrew operations experience is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Air Mobility Command's operations, policies, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of flight operations, risk management, and instrument flight rules.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with command and control operations including Air Operations Centers and Air Mobility Command Centers.
• Knowledge of DoD/JCS/Air Force air transportation directives and regulations.
• Experience in total flight planning and understanding of aircrew flying limitations.

Responsibilities

• Accomplishes flight planning.
• Flight-follows assigned missions to completion.
• Resolves operational issues affecting unconventional and complex, multi-sortie missions.
• Evaluates the mission impact of delays and/or cancellations.
• Keeps 618TH AOC senior staff apprised of status and developments for assigned missions.
• Reviews quality of sorties as required.
• Advises senior 618TH AOC and AMC staff on airlift and air refueling operational issues.
• Provides training when appropriate.
• Serves as Air Traffic Manager/Coordinator.
• Assists with development, analysis, evaluation, and maintenance of air transportation tools.
