About the position

The Flight Nurse position at Air Methods in Lehi, UT, involves providing high-quality critical care during medical transport. The role requires a minimum of 36 months of experience in critical care settings and entails working two 24-hour shifts per week. The Flight Nurse will be responsible for patient assessment, triage, and treatment, ensuring safe transport to medical facilities while adhering to established medical standards. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, combining critical care with the thrill of flight.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care from initial contact until patient care is transferred to the accepting medical facility, maintaining thorough documentation.
  • Participate in ongoing education and maintain competency in clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Use and maintain all medical equipment and supplies, reporting any failures and ensuring adequate supplies onboard the aircraft.
  • Attend pre-mission briefings and assist in mission debriefings, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Serve as a flight resource for neonatal/pediatric personnel during specialty patient transports and perform advanced skills as approved by medical directors.
  • Participate in follow-up activities and outreach marketing and education initiatives.
  • Act as a preceptor for new employees and students, communicating program goals and objectives.
  • Engage in regular meetings and activities related to Air Methods CBS.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Minimum three years of recent critical care/emergency nursing experience within the last five years.
  • Current RN license(s) for states of practice and EMS or MICN certification as required by state regulations.
  • Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, and other advanced trauma courses as required.
  • Ability to maintain a weight not exceeding 225 pounds, including flight suit and boots.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field preferred.
  • Pre-hospital experience preferred.
  • Flight experience is a plus.
