About the position

The Flight Paramedic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center provides advanced pre-hospital and inter-facility patient care, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to protocols. This role requires proficient clinical knowledge and the ability to act as a clinical resource, participating in improvement activities and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages care according to LifeFlight and VUMC standards.
  • Maintains clinical proficiency and competency per regulatory and accreditation compliance.
  • Participates in self and program improvement activities and problem-solving projects.
  • Reviews current research and applies findings for evidence-based practice.
  • Documents care accurately to meet LifeFlight documentation standards.
  • Facilitates quality patient care through collaborative communication.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a paramedic.
  • Current Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C).
  • Ability to obtain a paramedic license with Critical Care Endorsement valid in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification with advanced skills lab and lecture components.
  • Current United States Passport.
