As a Flight Test Engineer 2 at Garmin, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of flight test programs. Your primary responsibilities will include drafting ground and flight test plans and reports for moderately complex test programs, which are derived from previous programs. You will coordinate and execute these flight tests as part of a flight test crew, taking on the role of test director when necessary. This position requires you to define, document, and maintain the configurations of moderately complex test aircraft and equipment, while also coordinating with engineering teams to ensure all aspects of the test are covered. In addition to planning and executing tests, you will operate flight test tools, conduct real-time data analysis, and post-process flight test data. Identifying root causes of issues that arise during flight tests and verifying their resolution will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also prepare installation data for avionics systems in test aircraft and leverage your understanding of the certification process and associated regulations to perform your role effectively. Your contributions will not only focus on technical execution but also on process improvement and safety within the flight test organization. You will be expected to provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem-solving techniques, demonstrating a sense of urgency and commitment to developing timely solutions. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to less experienced flight test engineers, helping to foster their growth and development in the field.
