About the position

The Flight Test Instrumentation Engineer - Level 3 at Lockheed Martin is responsible for leading and executing projects related to airborne data acquisition systems. This role involves the specification, design, integration, and maintenance of instrumentation systems used in flight tests, ensuring that all technical requirements are met. The engineer will oversee the installation and calibration of data systems, support preflight and post-flight activities, and coordinate with various teams to ensure successful test operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or work independently on projects to meet test program goals.
  • Specify, select, design, integrate, operate, and maintain airborne data acquisition systems.
  • Oversee installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems for proper data display and analysis.
  • Maintain configuration control and mission capability of instrumentation systems and ground support equipment.
  • Support preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for scheduled missions.
  • Interface with test operations, maintenance, and management to coordinate instrumentation requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Technical background in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with 3-D Computer Aided design (CAD) tools/drafting software.
  • ADP Flight Test Instrumentation experience.
  • Flight Test Instrumentation design experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with Curtis Wright, Safran, or similar instrumentation hardware.
  • Signal conditioning, transducers, and data acquisition experience.
  • Analog & digital circuit design and analysis skills.
  • Familiarity with IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, network analyzers, and multi-meters.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings & process specifications.
  • Familiarity with CATIA and tooling, machining or fabrication experience.
  • Assembly/Build Floor support experience.
  • Lean manufacturing and process improvement experience.
  • Manufacturing experience in metallic, non-metallic, electrical, assembly and installations.
