About the position

The Flight Test Instrumentation Engineering Technician at Bell is responsible for the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of Data Acquisition Systems (ADAS) that support flight and ground test activities for both civil and military aviation programs. This role involves hands-on work with instrumentation systems, ensuring data quality and accuracy, and providing guidance to other technicians. The position offers opportunities for technical skill development and leadership within a pioneering aviation company.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, maintain, and operate Airborne Data Acquisition Systems (ADAS) for flight and ground test activities.
  • Troubleshoot and upgrade instrumentation systems as needed.
  • Perform daily preflight checks and software loads for ADAS to ensure data system quality.
  • Provide guidance to Electricians and Mechanics on instrumentation installations and repairs.
  • Fabricate electrical boxes for ADAS or to simulate and validate data.
  • Maintain inventory for Flight Test Instrumentation equipment and create trouble reports for repairs.
  • Document work performed in RFAs, Electronic Workbook, and daily written tie-ins.
  • Adhere to best practices and procedures for quality and safe data acquisition.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
  • Experience in fabricating cables, including terminating connectors and soldering; J-STD-001 certification preferred.
  • Solid understanding of electronics principles including voltage, current, resistance, impedance, and power.
  • Experience with lab hardware such as signal generators, oscilloscopes, analyzers, and power meters.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and organizational skills, and a team player mindset.
  • Ability to climb onto ladders and platforms to access instrumentation on aircraft.
  • Ability to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
