About the position

The Flight Test Instrumentation Mechanical Engineer will support the Flight Test team at Lockheed Martin, focusing on the F-35, F-16, and F-22 aircraft. This role involves mechanical design activities for the installation of flight test equipment and data system components, ensuring airworthiness and supporting aircraft checkout and flight operations.

Responsibilities

• Development, installation oversight, and validation of 3D CATIA flight test mechanical designs.
• Coordination with suppliers, internal and external integrated product teams, management, and the customer.
• Technical engineering support for installation and testing at CONUS and OCONUS locations.
• Engineering liaison for flight test and instrumentation modification activities.
• Produce and read engineering drawings, schematics, and technical procedures.
• Develop troubleshooting plans and discrepancy resolution.
• Lead a team of engineers through complex projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience with CATIA V5, V4, or similar.
• Experience with aircraft manufacture or operations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experienced in CATIA V5 mechanical design.
• Familiar with sensor technology utilized in the test of aircraft structures and vehicle subsystems.
• Familiar with fighter aircraft technical data, maintenance practices, flight operations, and weapons.
• Familiar with aircraft structures as it relates to equipment installation and harness routing.
• Strong communication and people skills.
