About the position

The Solutions Architect (SA) role at Confluent is pivotal in assisting customers to leverage streaming architectures and applications to meet their business objectives. The SA will engage directly with clients, providing expertise in software architecture, design, and operations, particularly with technologies such as Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, and the Confluent platform. This position emphasizes building strong customer relationships, delivering high-quality results, and optimizing existing deployments while advocating best practices and gathering product feedback.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in defining their platform and application strategy for a real-time, event-driven business model.
• Conduct onsite or remote workshops for customers' architects, developers, and operations teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering and other colleagues to address complex challenges and write recommendations summary documents.
• Provide feedback to the Confluent Product and Engineering groups.
• Develop tools to extend technical capabilities and enhance delivery quality.
• Write or edit documentation and knowledge base articles, including reference architecture materials and design patterns.
• Participate in community and industry events.

Requirements

• Significant experience with Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, and the Confluent platform or other stream processing solutions.
• Experience using cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure) for high-throughput systems.
• Experience operating Linux (configure, tune, and troubleshoot Red Hat and Debian-based distributions).
• Experience with distributed systems (Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.).
• Proficiency in Java and experience with JVM tuning and troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication skills to explain complex issues and solutions clearly.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies.
• Enthusiasm for solving challenging technical problems independently.
