About the position

The Float Patient Service Representative (PSR) at Jane Pauley Community Health Center serves as the primary contact for patients, both in person and over the phone. This role is essential for scheduling and registering patients, ensuring accurate collection of demographic and insurance information, and providing support across various practice sites as needed. The PSR is expected to deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining a welcoming environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and communicates effectively with patients and patients' families.
  • Schedules patient appointments.
  • Interacts with patients in a friendly respectful manner.
  • Determines information needed for patient registration and provides appropriate documentation.
  • Determines and verifies insurance status and/or patient's eligibility for financial assistance programs and collects appropriate documentation from patients and patients' family.
  • Collects patient co-payments and practices proper money handling as defined by JPCHC standards.
  • Answers telephone calls by third ring and transfers calls appropriately.
  • Assists with medical record requests.
  • Prepares and mails patient correspondence as directed.
  • Responds to messages left within one business day.
  • Responsible for neatness and appearance of the patient waiting area.
  • Participates in all departmental and organizational meetings.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical office practices required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication required.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
