About the position

The Float Patient Service Representative is responsible for providing support across various Department of Medicine sites, including Hill Medical Building, Oneida Office, Upstate @ Community, 550 Harrison Street, NAPPI Building, UHCC, T5 Office, Liverpool Office, Baldwinsville Office, and Fayetteville Towne Center Office. This role involves answering telephone calls, taking accurate messages, triaging calls, and handling certain inquiries that can be managed by a Front Desk Clerk, such as rescheduling appointments. The representative will schedule new patient and follow-up appointments, prepare charts, and ensure that all pertinent information is included for upcoming appointments. Additionally, they will manage the return of medical records to the proper location at the end of each day and review documents for completeness and accuracy before filing them in the medical record. The representative will also verify insurance eligibility, obtain necessary authorizations, and ensure that all patient-related information is reviewed by the physician prior to filing. They will respond to routine requests for information, document per departmental policy, and assist with chart label preparation and patient database updates. The role includes sending written correspondence for appointment changes and no-shows, as well as participating in the maintenance of medical records for patients not scheduled for the following day after review by the attending physician.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of clerical support experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge of EPIC system.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
