About the position

The Floater Assistant Teacher at Acelero Learning is responsible for supporting early childhood education programs by working collaboratively with Preschool Teachers to ensure the successful operation of Head Start classrooms for children aged 3-5. This role offers valuable experience and transferable skills in a supportive environment dedicated to building a better future for children and families. The position includes conducting home visits, planning and implementing learning experiences, and maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct four 90-minute home visits per day for the first 6 months of employment, teaching curriculum and organizing physical education activities.
  • Travel to all centers in Milwaukee, WI for training and onboarding during the first 6 months.
  • Use knowledge of child growth and development principles to work with children in a Head Start program.
  • Maintain a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction and active engagement in learning.
  • Plan and implement learning experiences that advance children's intellectual and physical development.
  • Address challenging behaviors by observing and implementing preventive measures, teaching new social skills, and partnering with families.
  • Document children's progress and individualize curriculum based on observations and anecdotal notes.
  • Encourage family involvement in the Head Start program and support relationships between children and their families.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Support the social and emotional development of children.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders and participate in assigned meetings, events, and training as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent Required
  • Completed Introduction to Childcare Professions Credential
  • Completed Skills and Strategies for Childcare Teacher
  • Reliable transportation
  • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA), completed or willingness to complete within one year of start date
  • Prior experience with children aged 0-5 years
  • Physical exam and background checks are required for this position
