About the position

The Floater/Assistant Teacher position at A Step Up Career Academy involves providing support in a daycare setting for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years. The role requires flexibility to float between classrooms, assisting teachers during their absence and ensuring a nurturing environment for children. This is a full-time, permanent position with a focus on growth and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Float between classrooms to provide coverage when a teacher is absent or on vacation.
• Assist classrooms that have only one teacher present.
• Interact with children across different age groups, providing care and support.
• Change diapers and assist with potty training as needed.
• Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's progress and needs.
• Adapt to changes in classroom assignments and responsibilities as required.
• Complete required training and meet DCFS requirements.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of work experience in a daycare center.
• Experience working with children aged 6 weeks to 12 years.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 33 college credit hours with six credits in early childhood education or child development.
• Completion of DCFS required training: Mandated Reporter, SIDS, Shaken Baby, Trauma Informed Care, Child Development, Health and Safety Basics & Food Handler.

Nice-to-haves

• 2 years of experience working in a child care center (preferred).
