About the position
The Floater/Teacher Assistant position at First Step Child Care Center is a part-time role focused on supporting the teaching staff in both Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and want to contribute to a nurturing learning environment. Floaters are essential team members who assist in various classrooms, helping implement curriculum, manage classroom activities, and provide care for children throughout the day.
Responsibilities
- Support teaching staff in implementing the curriculum across all classrooms.
- Manage classroom activities and provide learning opportunities for children.
- Give breaks to teaching staff and assist with group and individual activities.
- Engage with children during playtime and help with routines such as mealtimes, diapering, and naptimes.
- Act as a substitute for Assistant Teachers when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a licensed child care facility.
- Must have an Associate's degree or higher in any field, be currently enrolled in college, or be willing to enroll in the CDA credentialing program within 12 months of hire.
- Must receive medical and background clearance to work with children.
