About the position

The Floating Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of convenience stores in the absence of the Store Manager or Co-Manager. This role involves managing employee performance, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining store inventory and cleanliness. The Floating Manager plays a crucial role in problem-solving and guiding employees while reporting directly to the Regional Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the store in the absence of the Store Manager or Co-Manager.
  • Assist customers with their needs and demonstrate concern; master suggestive selling.
  • Account for store inventory and control expenses through appropriate inventory ordering.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, associates, and vendors, treating all fairly and with respect.
  • Ensure all shifts are covered to meet business needs by coordinating with other managers/associates.
  • Handle disciplinary issues according to company policy and notify the Security Specialist of any suspected loss of company assets.
  • Maintain the general appearance and cleanliness of the store premises; delegate duties as needed.
  • Effectively lead, train, motivate, and develop team members.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and associates; follow proper incident reporting procedures.
  • Manage daily paperwork, deposits, and cigarette counts, including accurate calculation of weekly payroll.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Able to obtain ServSafe certification.
  • Able to obtain IDEM certification.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and dependable.
  • Strong mathematics skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 10 hours.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining 100% customer focus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of management experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Retail background.
