Floor Care Technician

About the position

The Floor Care Technician at Georgia Southern University is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all carpeted and hard surfaces across the university's campuses. This role involves performing preventative maintenance on special floor equipment and ensuring that all cleaning tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to safety and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
• Perform cleaning and maintenance of all flooring types, including stripping and waxing
• Complete work assignments in a timely manner
• Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure
• Use and maintain equipment properly
• Operate and maintain all equipment correctly and safely
• Observe safety precautions at all times
• Report safety hazards
• Notify proper authorities of emergency corrective needs
• Work in accordance with University policies, department procedures, and state and federal regulations
• Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One (1) year of related work experience
• Proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
