About the position

HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is seeking a dedicated Floor Tech PRN to join our environmental services team. This position is crucial in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our patients, their families, and our staff. As a Floor Tech, you will be responsible for performing cleaning services and maintaining tile and carpet floors, ensuring adherence to infection control policies and procedures. You will work under the direction of EVS Management and will be expected to demonstrate respect for the personal dignity and values of our patients while providing high-quality cleaning services. Your primary duties will include daily cleaning of patient rooms, cleaning discharged rooms promptly for incoming admissions, and maintaining non-patient areas such as offices, common areas, hallways, and restrooms. You will be responsible for the proper handling of cleaning chemicals and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and compliance with infection control standards. Additionally, you will ensure that all equipment is in working order and that preventive maintenance is completed as required. The role requires you to report any potential safety issues using the occurrence reporting system and to place appropriate signage in areas where hazards may exist. You will also be responsible for dust mopping and wet mopping tile floors, vacuuming carpeted areas, and cleaning restrooms according to established procedures. Maintaining your supply cart and ensuring that all equipment is properly stored and organized at the end of your shift is also part of your responsibilities. Responsibilities

  • Provides cleaning services and tile/carpet floor maintenance with consideration of patients, their family and friends.
  • Performs environmental tasks adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning of patient's rooms and cleaning discharged rooms in a timely manner.
  • Cleans and maintains non-patient areas, offices, common areas, hallways, and restrooms.
  • Handles all chemicals properly and follows infection control policies and PPE use.
  • Ensures patient rooms and hospital flooring are cleaned efficiently and safely.
  • Reports potential patient and environmental safety issues using the occurrence reporting system.
  • Places proper signage for hazards such as wet floors.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of equipment used for cleaning floors and identifies mechanical issues.
  • Dust mops and wet mops all tile floors nightly using approved germicidal detergent.
  • Empties mop bucket frequently and mixes new cleaning solution.
  • Vacuums and pre-spots all carpeted areas, paying attention to corners and edges.
  • Cleans all restrooms in assigned areas as outlined in the training manual.
  • Cleans offices and ancillary areas according to procedures outlined in the training manual.
  • Repositions furniture and equipment after room cleaning, turns off lights, and locks doors.
  • Cleans corridors following departmental procedures to prevent safety hazards.
  • Maintains supply cart with necessary equipment and supplies to avoid restocking during mid-shift.
  • Stores equipment properly during breaks and reports any damage to cleaning equipment immediately.

Requirements

  • Two years' experience providing environmental services in a healthcare environment preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English required.
