About the position

As a Floor Technician at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various surfaces within the facility. Your responsibilities will include performing a variety of floor care tasks such as dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and extraction of carpets in areas including offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and dining rooms. You will also be responsible for conducting project cleaning of walls, lights, entrances, common areas, windows, vents, sidewalks, and other assigned areas. It is essential to maintain these areas to the high standards set by the department and the organization, adhering to all policies and procedures established by the facility and department. In this role, you will actively participate in providing outstanding customer service and will be expected to maintain respectful relationships with all individuals you interact with. You will perform cleaning activities within established guidelines to ensure that quality standards, safety guidelines, and customer service expectations are met. Additionally, you will report any equipment or cleaning product needs and malfunctions to your supervisor in a timely manner. You may also be required to collect trash, recycling, and soiled linen from various units and ensure proper disposal. Your knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and the proper operation of cleaning equipment will be vital in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. You will be expected to respond to any hazardous situations and emergencies, as well as prepare safety data sheets (SDS) as needed. Flexibility is key, as you may need to adjust to staff shortages and cover other assigned areas. You will also interact with patients and customers in a professional manner, and may be cross-trained to perform both Environmental Services Associate and Utility Tech job functions. Keeping equipment sanitized and clean will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hard surface floor and carpet through various cleaning methods including dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and extraction.
  • Conducts project cleaning of walls, lights, entrances, common areas, windows, vents, sidewalks, etc. as assigned.
  • Maintains areas of responsibility to the high standards set by the department and corporate policies.
  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all individuals.
  • Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and malfunctions to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Cleans patient rooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, and ancillary rooms in assigned areas.
  • Collects and disposes of trash (contaminated or non-contaminated) appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Adjusts to staff shortages and covers other assigned areas as needed.
  • Utilizes Team-through-put/ Bed Management system to maintain productive flow of beds and patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • No experience required; 1 year of experience preferred.
