About the position

As a Floor Technician at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of various surfaces within the facility. This position is essential for ensuring that the hospital environment is safe, welcoming, and conducive to healing. You will be responsible for performing a variety of floor care tasks, including dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, and extraction of carpets in areas such as offices, resident rooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells, and dining rooms. Your work will contribute to the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital, which is crucial for patient care and satisfaction. In addition to routine floor maintenance, you will conduct project cleaning of walls, lights, entrances, common areas, windows, vents, sidewalks, and other assigned areas. It is important to maintain high standards of cleanliness and adhere to all policies and procedures set by the facility and department. You will actively participate in outstanding customer service, ensuring that all interactions with patients and staff are respectful and professional. The role requires you to report any equipment or cleaning product needs and malfunctions to your supervisor promptly. You may also be responsible for collecting trash, recycling, and soiled linen from various units and ensuring proper disposal. Knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures is essential, as is the ability to respond to hazardous situations and emergencies. You will be expected to maintain a clean and sanitized work environment, including the cleaning and sanitization of equipment used in your duties. This position may also involve cross-training to perform additional roles within the Environmental Services team, enhancing your skills and versatility within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hard surface floor and carpet through dust and wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction, and bonneting.
  • Conducts project cleaning of walls, lights, entrances, common areas, windows, vents, sidewalks, etc. as assigned.
  • Maintains areas of responsibility to the high standards set by the department and corporate.
  • Adheres to all policies and procedures set by the facility and department.
  • Actively participates in outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all individuals.
  • Reports equipment/cleaning product needs and malfunctions to supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Cleans patient rooms, public areas, restrooms, offices, and ancillary rooms in assigned areas.
  • Collects and disposes of trash (contaminated or non-contaminated) in an appropriate manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of infection control, isolation procedures, and proper operation of cleaning equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge relating to sanitation, use of disinfectants, and reports any hazardous situations.
  • Adjusts to staff shortages and covers other assigned areas as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • No experience required; 1 year of experience preferred.
