About the position

The Flooring Technician role at Preferred, Inc. involves overseeing flooring projects from start to finish, ensuring quality control, and managing a crew effectively. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to operate various equipment and apply coatings. The technician will be responsible for pre-project planning, on-site management, and post-project evaluations, contributing to the overall success of flooring installations.

Responsibilities

• Complete a job from start to finish unsupervised
• Train all staff members on site
• Manage a jobsite and crew for the entire project
• Maintain a clean and organized van, trailer, toolbox, and diamond cart
• Conduct daily communication with customers, PDM, or PM
• Review production and material rates
• Ensure quality control during projects
• Train specialists and technicians
• Return materials to the staging area post-project
• Conduct final walk-through and punch list with customers

Requirements

• Ability to operate most pieces of flooring equipment
• Understanding of diamond inventory
• Ability to apply various types of coatings
• Knowledge of each step of polishing
• Strong communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
• Good attendance record
• Ability to work well with others
