About the position

The Floral Clerk position at Cosentino's Price Chopper is designed to enhance the shopping experience for customers by maintaining a well-stocked and visually appealing floral department. The clerk will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting floral products that meet their needs, ensuring that all orders are documented accurately for follow-through. This role requires a thorough understanding of the department's products, procedures, and policies to provide accurate and courteous responses to customer inquiries. The clerk will also handle customer complaints professionally and know when to escalate issues to store management. In addition to customer service, the Floral Clerk will monitor the quality of products, removing any damaged or unsaleable items and following proper procedures for damage claims. The clerk will be tasked with arranging floral displays neatly, ensuring that products are front-facing and properly labeled. The role includes creating balloon arrangements to customer specifications and delivering floral and store products as needed. Maintaining stock levels, ensuring product freshness, and adhering to health regulations and safety procedures are also key responsibilities. The position requires the clerk to meet productivity standards and demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for effective communication with customers and peers. Basic math and reading skills are necessary for inventory management and product labeling. The clerk may also promote new items and special promotions through effective merchandising and creative displays, supporting overall sales efforts. Physical demands of the job include standing for long periods, lifting and carrying items, and working in cooler conditions. The clerk must be able to perform various physical tasks, including reaching overhead, pushing and pulling items, and bending or squatting as needed. This position formally reports to the Floral Manager and is classified as non-exempt.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting floral products and document orders accurately.
• Answer customer questions regarding products, procedures, and policies.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and escalate to management when necessary.
• Implement Cosentino's Customer Service Standards in all interactions.
• Monitor product quality and remove damaged or unsaleable items.
• Arrange floral displays neatly and ensure products are front-facing.

• Deliver floral and store products to customers as needed.
• Keep floral cases and shelves stocked and ensure product freshness.
• Change shelf tags and price markers as required.
• Count and record items for inventory purposes accurately.
• Unload incoming shipments and stock materials without damaging merchandise.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area for customers and coworkers.
• Comply with health regulations and safety procedures in the department.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and interpersonal skills for positive interactions.

Requirements

• Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino's Learning Plan.
• A high school diploma is preferred (non-essential).
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills for customer interactions.
• Basic math and reading skills for inventory and labeling tasks.
