About the position

The Floral Department Leader is responsible for implementing company and division policies to maximize sales and profits within the Floral department. This role involves leading by example, demonstrating core company values, and ensuring effective operations and customer service in the department.

Responsibilities

• Implement all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the Floral department.
• Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others.
• Develop maximum customer relations by floral department personnel through personal example of friendliness and courtesy.
• Coach and train on pricing, price marking, rotation, stocking, and ensuring proper emphasis on customer courtesy and productivity.
• Plan, organize, direct, and control the activities of the Floral Department.
• Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of all floral products.
• Order properly to maintain adequate stock and supplies and guard against waste and pilferage.
• Maintain and submit required records and reports and use them effectively.
• Analyze continuously all aspects of the Floral Department and periodically make changes or recommendations to the store manager.
• Promote, communicate, and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports in a positive manner.
• Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.

Requirements

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
• Strong Florist Transworld Delivery computer and organizational skills.
• Ability to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers.
• Understanding of all key components of department operations.
• Working knowledge of floral arrangement and care of plants and cut flowers.
• Adept at communication with employees, customers, and supervision.
