About the position

The Floral Department Manager at Brookshire Grocery Company is responsible for creating beautiful floral arrangements while promoting sales and ensuring exceptional customer service. This role involves managing the floral department, leading and training team members, and maintaining profitability through effective inventory management and financial oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop partners in the floral department.
  • Schedule, plan, assign, and direct work for the floral team.
  • Review historical data to predict future sales from ads and promotions.
  • Manage inventory to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
  • Review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data, providing summaries to upper management.
  • Accountable for floral sales, labor, and meeting financial objectives.
  • Create stylish floral and plant arrangements that appeal to customers.
  • Consult with customers regarding floral arrangements for various events.
  • Oversee the maintenance of plants, ensuring quality and freshness.
  • Plan, order, and source products for inventory control.
  • Build product displays for special events and promotions.
  • Monitor and manage department shrink using current tools and processes.
  • Make recommendations to category management regarding floral product procurement.
  • Promote a customer-focused environment and proactive selling techniques.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and complaints promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment according to company safety procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • State certification and licensure required in Louisiana.
  • Advanced knowledge of floral department operations.
  • Strong knowledge of flowers, handling, and design techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of budget planning and financial statements.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and delegate responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills with partners and customers.
  • Ability to use precision hand tools and perform basic Microsoft Office functions.
  • Basic mathematical skills for inventory assessment and ordering.
