About the position

The Florida Civics & Debate Initiative Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and management of the Florida Civics & Debate Initiative. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including the Florida Department of Education and participating program coaches, to fulfill the initiative's mission. The Program Manager will also coordinate training, manage resources, and support communication efforts to promote the initiative effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Regional Ambassadors to assist with participating program selection and support.
  • Manage resource requests from participating programs and update shared coach resources.
  • Coordinate coach mentorship activities with Regional Ambassadors.
  • Assist with planning monthly regional and annual national debate competitions and post-tournament activities.
  • Maintain and share a calendar of events with FEF staff and participating programs.
  • Present the initiative's mission and programs positively to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate communications between the marketing firm and FDOE Communications Office.
  • Assist with data collection and updates to the Best Practices Handbook.
  • Maintain accurate lists of district and school contacts.
  • Manage and disseminate competition data to the initiative director and partners.
  • Assist with Civics Committee and FEF Board Meetings.
  • Support sponsorship development and proposals, tracking grant deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Leadership experience in a related role.
  • Coaching, speech, and debate experience is highly desired.
  • Supervising experience is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the Florida Education Foundation and the Florida Civics & Debate Initiative.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Microsoft certification in Excel/Word preferred.
  • Knowledge of communication technologies.
  • Experience in sponsorship development and proposals.
