About the position

The Wisconsin Union is seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Technician III to join our dedicated facilities team at the Fluno Center for Executive Education, located on the UW-Madison campus. The Fluno Center serves as a full-service hotel and conference center, and this role is crucial in ensuring that our facilities are maintained to the highest standards. The successful candidate will collaborate with other technicians, mechanics, and trades staff to keep our buildings and grounds in excellent condition, contributing to a positive customer experience. This position requires a blend of teamwork and independent problem-solving skills to address mechanical and maintenance issues effectively. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment and facilities to ensure they meet established standards and prevent further damage. You will utilize specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery and facility property, perform routine and non-routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and assist with various maintenance tasks. Your ability to work well with others while also being capable of independently addressing maintenance challenges will be key to your success in this position. Responsibilities

  • Inspects, maintains, and repairs specialized equipment and facilities to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage.
  • Utilizes specialized equipment to repair and maintain complex machinery, equipment, and facility property to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation.
  • Performs routine and non-routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoots, escalates, and documents issues according to established policies and procedures.
  • Receives, inspects, inventories, and distributes deliveries independently to appropriate entities.
  • Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a building maintenance, mechanical repairing, or similar setting.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver's License that meets UW Risk Management Standards.

Nice-to-haves
