About the position

The Fly by Wire Flight Controls Engineer - TS II position at Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation involves a critical role within the Flight Controls team, which is responsible for the design, development, integration, and certification of the Gulfstream Flight Control Systems across all large cabin programs. These systems are complex and require a highly cross-functional team of exceptional engineers specializing in complex electronics, software, electrical, and hydraulic actuation. The successful candidate will be part of a team that tackles some of the most challenging engineering problems in aviation, working from the Savannah facility. In this role, you will be tasked with developing, designing, and certifying both hardware and software aspects of the Flight Control Computer as a Cognizant Engineer. This includes designing and integrating interactions with interfacing systems, supporting troubleshooting of in-service issues that impact component reliability, and interacting with suppliers during the development, certification, and root cause corrective action processes. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, balancing technical product requirements with cost and schedule considerations. As a recognized authority in the field, you will select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues. You will be expected to maintain a current knowledge of developments in your specialty and related aircraft fields to recommend innovations that improve the quality and effectiveness of Gulfstream products. This position is essential for guiding the successful completion of major engineering programs and conceiving research in areas of considerable scope and complexity that support the development and production of Gulfstream products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and certify hardware and software aspects of the Flight Control Computer as a Cognizant Engineer.
  • Design and integrate interactions with interfacing systems.
  • Support troubleshooting of in-service issues impacting component reliability.
  • Interact with suppliers during development, certification, and root cause corrective action.
  • Select appropriate methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Anticipate and resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways, developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of developments in the field of specialty and/or other related aircraft fields to recommend innovations.

Requirements

  • Experience with Fly-By-Wire Flight Controls Systems.
  • Experience with FAR Part 25 certification, ARP4754A, or DO-178/DO-254.
  • Ability to plan and manage project milestones.
  • Advanced knowledge of one or more coding languages.
  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a technical related curriculum applicable to the respective job position required.
  • 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years broad engineering experience in several technical disciplines with a Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering or related curriculum preferred.
