About the position

The FMS Test Automation Engineer is responsible for developing and executing automated test scripts for functional testing of the City's Web-based Financial Management System (FMS). This role involves integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing, ensuring the quality and functionality of various applications and builds. The engineer will collaborate with functional test leads and other stakeholders to analyze requirements, create reusable test automation frameworks, and document test results.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute reusable automated test scripts for functional testing of various applications.
  • Analyze requirements, functional designs, and technical specifications to understand functionality.
  • Document and report test results using the City's test tool set, including defect documentation.
  • Work with FMS Functional Test Leads to develop automated test scripts for assigned work streams.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation of existing manual test suites.
  • Define variables and develop custom function scripts for automated test scripts.
  • Re-execute automated test scripts after new builds or software deliveries to identify defects.
  • Document pre-conditions required to run automated test scripts and maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years writing test plans and detailed test cases for accounting and/or budget ERP Systems.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on testing of accounting and/or budget ERP Systems.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on testing of complex applications in Mainframe and Web-based environments.
  • Hands-on in-depth knowledge of software quality assurance/testing methodologies and practices.
  • Proficiency in HP ALM/Quality Center and Unified Functional Testing tools using VB Scripting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of financial management concepts, particularly AMS Advantage Product.
  • Proficiency in running back-end/database queries for data set-up and verification.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends to meet target dates.
