About the position

The Food & Beverage Expert at Target plays a crucial role in ensuring a fresh, full, and food-safe shopping experience for guests. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including maintaining product availability, executing food safety standards, and providing exceptional guest service. The role is dynamic, requiring teamwork and a focus on guest needs, while also offering opportunities for skill development in the food and beverage sector.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience, providing a fresh and full shopping experience during all hours of operations, prioritizing the guest's needs over task.
  • Uphold and maintain the execution of the Food & Beverage Standards.
  • Understand how operational procedures impact shortage and profitability.
  • Execute Food & Beverage processes including FDC/RDC replenishment, pulls, stocking, zoning, in-stocks routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, Item Removal, signing and backstock.
  • Execute fast-mover inventory by proactively adding and removing items as seasonality, ad, transitions and demand require.
  • Follow all food safety requirements as outlined through best practice.
  • Use sampling and suggestive selling to promote products and increase sales.
  • Partner with Direct Store Delivery (DSD) distributors to proactively set and maintain DSD POGs, transitions and backroom space.
  • Locate and identify damaged, recalled or expired items and process according to best practice.
  • Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests.
  • Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact.
  • Engage with guests in a genuine way, which includes asking questions to better understand their specific needs.
  • Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store, and specific to your area, to solve issues for the guest and improve their experience.
  • Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target.
  • Execute all federal, state and local adult beverage laws as they apply to your business.
  • Properly handle environmentally sensitive items when breaks and spills occur.
  • Appropriately use and care for in-store and personal protective equipment; follow equipment control guidelines.
  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times to benefit yourself and others; identify and correct hazards; comply with all safety policies and best practices.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older (Bakery Only).
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and other team members.
  • Attention to detail and follow multi-step processes.
  • Ability to work in spaces where common allergens may be handled or present.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous food or grocery experience preferred, but not required.
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Work both independently and with a team.
  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
