About the position

The Town of Windsor is seeking a part-time Food Bank Aide to assist in the daily operations of the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank. This role involves managing food donations, maintaining the pantry's organization, and supporting various food bank programs, ensuring a positive experience for clients and community partners.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and tracks food donations.
  • Picks up donations on occasion.
  • Maintains organization and cleanliness of pantry area.
  • Rotates and cleans freezers and coolers in accordance with food safety guidelines.
  • Maintains good working relationships with referral agencies, community partners, town personnel, and donors.
  • Assists with the distribution of the annual client survey to review the food bank service.
  • Provides staff support on a wide range of holiday programs pertaining to the food bank.
  • Communicates regularly with program participants and the public.
  • Performs home visitations when appropriate to provide food deliveries to participants with transportation challenges.
  • Communicates with the Food Bank Coordinator about the daily operations and stock shortages.
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Participates in seminars and training sessions to enhance the guest experience, increase access to healthy food, and promote long-term food security.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties such as receiving the public, answering phone, typing correspondence, maintaining records, running errands, and picking up supplies for activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • One year of progressively responsible experience as a staff member within a public agency and college coursework preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Town's pre-employment background and drug screening, including testing for marijuana.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to pick up a minimum of 50 lbs on a regular basis.
