About the position

The Food & Beverage Market Manager at Kohler Co. is responsible for leading the operations of the Woodlake Market, a boutique market and food hall. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service, fostering a positive work environment, and driving business growth while ensuring that the market meets quality standards and financial objectives. The manager will oversee various departments, including retail, perishable goods, and catering, with an emphasis on healthy and organic offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming and engaging shopping experience for customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Determine and oversee the strategic business vision and goals of Woodlake Market and develop business as a leader in the industry.
  • Responsible for the Market's organizational structure.
  • Supervise the hiring, evaluating, development, and discipline of staff.
  • Ensure fair and legal employment practices are followed.
  • Document, investigate, and resolve employee and guest incidents.
  • Improve operating income as a percent of net sales each year through growth in sales and control of costs and expenses.
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source high-quality products that align with the store's unique positioning and target market.
  • Ensure high-quality standards are maintained in service, goods and products, personnel, and physical property.
  • Develop, recommend, and oversee implementation of marketing, strategic and manpower plans for the business.
  • Evaluate and adjust plans to ensure objectives are met.
  • Implement, evaluate, and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all reports and controlling documents required by Kohler Co.
  • Serve in a public relations capacity when appropriate.
  • Serve as a visible resource for guests and the local community.
  • Act as liaison between outside contacts, professional staff, and Communications as well as an ambassador for the brand with the general public.
  • Interact with other Hospitality staff to ensure synergy in business operations and act on feedback given to correct any applicable concerns or issues.
  • Develop awareness and continually strive to be aware of changing trends.
  • Remain informed on consumer purchasing trends, demographics, competition and markets.
  • Implement plans to deal with change.
  • Set policies and pricing structures.
  • Ensure policies are implemented and monitored so they are meeting the needs of the business, members, and customers.
  • Supervise the planning and completion of projects to maintain, upgrade or repair the physical properties.
  • Oversee the growth, development and success of the quality and safety programs within the facility.
  • Supervise the orientation, onboarding, training, and performance of associates.
  • Ensure educational opportunities are provided for all levels with the intent of retaining and developing staff.
  • Consistently improve engagement with staff through team building events, staff meetings, Glint Survey results sharing, and other ways to build culture.
  • Responsible for signage, pricings, displays, and menu items are accurate and correct at all times.
  • Manage different opportunities to help drive traffic such as catering and possibly hosting events.
  • Oversee all shrink of the store to help minimize waste and be cost effective.
  • Inspect incoming inventory to ensure accuracy in all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as store policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in restaurants, food & beverage management, event management or premium grocery required.
  • Exceptional communication, organization, motivational and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, analytical and business management skills.
  • High collaboration with staff, and internal teams on forecasting initiatives.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and common retail POS systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting and financial reporting preferred.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
