About the position

The Food & Beverage Purchaser is responsible for managing food inventories, processing orders, and maintaining accurate records to ensure efficient procurement operations at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa. This role involves conducting inventory audits, reconciling shipping invoices, and ensuring compliance with food safety policies. The Purchaser will also develop positive working relationships with team members and vendors to support the overall goals of the purchasing department.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate figures for food inventories, orders, and costs.
  • Maintain clear and organized records for reports and invoices.
  • Post invoices using computer programs.
  • Conduct inventory audits to determine inventory levels and needs.
  • Complete requisition forms for inventory and supplies.
  • Notify manager/supervisor of low stock levels.
  • Verify and track received inventory and complete inventory reports and logs.
  • Reconcile shipping invoices and receiving reports for accuracy.
  • Receive, unload, and process deliveries.
  • Refuse acceptance of damaged or incorrect items.
  • Troubleshoot vendor delivery issues and oversee return processes.
  • Adhere to food safety and handling policies and procedures.
  • Monitor PAR levels for all food items.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures regarding appearance and confidentiality.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with others.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
  • Comply with quality assurance expectations and standards.
  • Visually inspect tools and equipment for defects.
  • Enter and locate work-related information using computers or point of sale systems.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period during shifts.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Navigate narrow, confined, or elevated spaces and uneven surfaces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of related work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
