About the position

As a Food Captain at Circle K, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all food operational executions in the store are followed meticulously to maximize sales and minimize waste. Your expertise in the food category will be essential as you train, teach, and coach store associates on various aspects of food execution, production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization, and customer service. You will be the go-to person for employees with questions related to food products and services, providing guidance and support to enhance their knowledge and skills. In this position, you will also be responsible for planning and executing food sampling events for both employees and customers, which will help promote food products and engage customers effectively. Conducting and leading in-store training sessions for store employees and operation teams on all new Foodservice programs will be a key part of your role, as you model an established train-the-trainer program. Additionally, you will follow up with refresher training activities as needed to ensure that all employees are up to date with the latest foodservice practices. You will ensure that foodservice areas are well-stocked and that food is rotated using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method to maintain freshness. Displaying food items according to the current Planogram provided by your Business Unit will also be part of your responsibilities. You will assist in ordering food products to reduce out-of-stock situations and improve shrinkage, while continuously monitoring shrinkage to maximize foodservice profit. Collaboration with BUQAS training personnel will be essential to ensure that the manager and store employee Foodservice training programs are effectively delivered. You will also be expected to conduct needs analysis and provide recommended actions based on BUQAS visits, all while operating within budgeted expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all food operational execution in store are followed to maximize sales and reduce waste.
  • Train, teach and coach store associates on food execution, production, replenishment, ordering, organization, sanitization, and customer service.
  • Be the go-to person in store for employees with questions connected to food products and services.
  • Plan and execute food sampling for employees and customers.
  • Conduct and lead in-store training for store employees and operation teams on all new Foodservice programs.
  • Follow up with and conduct refresher training activities for store employees as needed.
  • Ensure foodservice areas are stocked and food rotated using FIFO method of food rotation.
  • Display food items using current Planogram provided by your Business Unit.
  • Order or assist in ordering the food products to lower Out Of Stocks and improve Shrink.
  • Monitor shrink while improving sales to maximize foodservice profit.
  • Identify, suggest, train, and continuously collaborate with BUQAS training personnel.
  • Conduct needs analysis and provide recommended actions based on BUQAS visits.
  • Operate within budgeted expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education/instructional experience.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in Fast Moving Consumer Goods retail and/or Foodservice industry.
  • Experience in training, leadership, and team building.
  • Food Manager Certification, Approved certifications include ServSafe and NRFSP.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbally and written.
  • French skills in Quebec Provinces preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented with excellent customer service skills.
  • Skills in collaboration, cooperation, communication, and organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Leading or supervisory experience desired.
