About the position

The Food Operations Director at Greensville Correctional Center is responsible for directing a comprehensive food service program within a major correctional institution. This role involves supervising both staff and inmates in food preparation and serving, ensuring that all activities comply with health and safety standards as well as security regulations. The director will oversee the ordering and receiving of food products, equipment, and other necessary supplies, while also maintaining an accurate inventory system to track these items effectively. Additionally, the position requires the submission of budget proposals and management of authorized expenditures within the allocated funds. In this role, the Food Operations Director will be expected to demonstrate a working knowledge of food service management and sanitation practices. The ability to prepare nutritional meals is essential, as is effective communication with all levels of personnel, including management, staff, and inmates. The director will also be responsible for ensuring that the food service operations align with the policies and procedures set forth by the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC). This position is critical in maintaining the quality and safety of food services provided to the institution, which directly impacts the health and well-being of the inmate population. Candidates for this position should possess a Certified Dietary Manager Certification and have advanced knowledge in food science or a related field. Experience in food service within a large correctional, educational, hospital, or similar institutional environment is highly desirable. Familiarity with VADOC food service operations, policies, and procedures will be considered an advantage. The role is full-time and salaried, with a hiring range between $56,052.00 and $91,922.00, reflecting the importance and responsibilities associated with this position.
