The Food Operations Director at Haynesville Correctional Center is responsible for directing a comprehensive food service program within a major correctional facility. This role involves supervising both staff and inmates in food preparation and serving, ensuring that all activities comply with health and safety standards as well as security regulations. The director will oversee the ordering and receiving of food products, equipment, and other necessary supplies, while also maintaining an accurate inventory system to track these items effectively. Additionally, the position requires the submission of budget proposals and management of authorized expenditures within the allocated funds. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a valid ServSafe certification. Supervisory experience in a high-volume food service environment is essential, as is a working knowledge of food service management and sanitation practices. The role demands proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as skills in operating food service equipment. A demonstrated ability to prepare nutritional meals and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including management, staff, and inmates, is crucial for success in this position. Additional qualifications that are considered beneficial include a Certified Dietary Manager Certification and advanced knowledge in Food Science or a related field. Experience in food service within large correctional, educational, hospital, or similar institutional settings is also advantageous. Familiarity with the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Food Service Operations, Policies, and Procedures is highly desirable, as it will aid in the effective management of the food service program.
