About the position

The Food Pantry Director plays a crucial role in managing the operations of the food pantry, ensuring that community members have access to nutritious food and resources. This position is essential for helping the church fulfill its mission of supporting the local community by meeting basic food needs. The director will oversee daily operations, including food procurement, distribution, and volunteer management, while fostering a welcoming environment for all clients.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food safety practices to ensure all food items are handled and stored properly.
• Manage the daily operations of the food pantry, including inventory management and distribution logistics.
• Collaborate with local suppliers and organizations to source quality food items.
• Train and supervise volunteers in food preparation and pantry operations.
• Organize community outreach programs to raise awareness about available services.
• Maintain accurate records of food inventory, client interactions, and volunteer hours.
• Coordinate and oversee fundraising.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years of experience in food management is required.
• Basic knowledge of Word and Excel programs is required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
• Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in restaurant management is preferred.
• Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan to grow and strengthen the food pantry is preferred.
