About the position
The Food Prep and Service role is designed to support staff in a collaborative environment focused on the preparation, presentation, and delivery of food to residents at a Long Term Care Center. The position emphasizes teamwork, adherence to food safety standards, and maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining the kitchen, pantry, storage areas, and equipment.
- May prepare raw ingredients as assigned.
- Responsible for checking material and supply stock levels and reporting when stock is low.
- Meal preparation duties include preparing and packing hot and cold meals according to recipes, temping food, and transferring food to and from the kitchen.
- Greets and serves customers in the café, including employees, patients, and visitors.
- Handles customer interactions, including answering phone calls, receiving meal orders, and providing menu information and suggestions.
- Cleans food service areas, kitchen, and cafeteria as required.
- Performs dishwashing duties, including cleaning cooking areas, utensils, and equipment, and operating a dishwashing machine.
- Cross trains with other members of the Nutritional Services Department, including Cooks and other Food and Service Prep staff.
- Operates a cash register to process Café purchases.
- May assist with conference room accommodations and Meals on Wheels preparation as needed.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
- Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must obtain Food Handler Certification from an ANSI accredited program within one month of hire and maintain current status throughout employment.
- 0 - 3 years of previous food service experience preferred.
