About the position

The Food Production Manager will oversee the Bakery and Hot Extrusion department, ensuring high-quality production processes and operational efficiency. This role is crucial for maintaining food safety standards, implementing lean manufacturing techniques, and driving innovation within the team. The manager will collaborate with various departments to optimize staffing, support product development, and uphold quality control measures.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the Bakery and Hot extrusion operation, ensuring seamless production flow to meet customer demand.
• Collaborate with HR to optimize staffing levels, aligning with operational requirements.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing Techniques to streamline production processes.
• Uphold Food Safety and Quality Control standards, maintaining HACCP/Preventative Controls Certification.
• Oversee maintenance schedules for Bakery and Hot Extrusion equipment and manage environmental controls.
• Lead the implementation and enforcement of 5S in the Hot Extrusion Area.
• Supervise and support Operators, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
• Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on New Product Development initiatives.
• Assist in Sales and Capabilities showcasing for Hot Extrusion capabilities.
• Drive future capital expenditures for the Bakery and Hot Extrusion Department, ensuring continued growth and innovation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Forklift Operation (certification required upon hire).
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• 4-year College Degree preferred.
• Prior experience in Pet Food Extrusion and Food Safety/HACCP strongly desired.
• Advanced knowledge of machine operation and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Enthusiasm, initiative, and a strong sense of pride in work.
