About the position

LSG Sky Chefs, a part of LSG Group, is seeking a Food Production Operations Manager to oversee and manage the daily operations of our food production department. This role is critical in ensuring that we meet our high standards for quality, safety, and customer satisfaction in the preparation of food and catering services for flights. The Operations Manager will be responsible for strategically planning, organizing, and managing the department's daily hours, schedules, productivity, and compliance with all relevant regulations, including those set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). The successful candidate will ensure that production is on-time and accurate, addressing any customer quality issues that arise and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Building and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external customers is essential, as is the ability to provide data for the development of annual business plans and budgets. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for the optimal deployment of human, technical, and material resources within the department, driving continuous optimization of processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Leadership is a key component of this role, as the Operations Manager will guide, motivate, and develop subordinate employees in alignment with the company's Human Resources policies. Participation in coaching and career development activities is expected to enhance team effectiveness. The role requires open availability, including weekends and holidays, as operations demand. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, along with three to five years of management experience in a related field, and will be bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically plan, organize, and manage the department's daily operations.
  • Ensure compliance with customer specifications, quality standards, and FDA regulations.
  • Oversee on-time and accurate production of food and catering services for flights.
  • Investigate customer quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Attend daily operations briefings and ensure inventory levels are maintained.
  • Provide data for annual business planning and budgeting.
  • Optimize deployment of human, technical, and material resources.
  • Initiate and control continuous optimization of processes.
  • Guide, motivate, and develop subordinate employees according to HR policies.
  • Participate in coaching and career development activities for team members.
  • Control the cost budget and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Support company initiatives such as Global Quality Standard (GQS) and HACCP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Three to five years of directly related management experience required.
  • Experience in using and managing Variable Production Systems and schedules.
  • Strong presentation, communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven success in improving work processes and leading change in a complex environment.
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
  • Demonstrable record of understanding and meeting customer expectations.
  • Proven track record of understanding product and labor cost variances.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications.
  • Bilingual in Spanish required.
