About the position

Intown Cares is seeking applicants for its full-time Food Programs Manager position. Intown is a 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to prevent and reverse homelessness and hunger in Intown Atlanta. Since its founding in 2010, Intown has grown to be a leader in homeless outreach and food security programming in the Atlanta community. Intown believes that all people deserve access to housing and food, and we strive to create innovative, impactful programs with high engagement that educate and empower our community. Intown is one of the largest low-barrier food program providers in Atlanta, where our low-barrier approach means creating as few obstacles as possible to provide food stability for households in the metro Atlanta area.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Intown's high-volume Food Pantry, Food Co-op, and Grocery Delivery programs
  • Manage frequent contact and coordination with Food Pantry guests, co-op members, corporate partners, volunteers, community groups, vendors, partner agencies, and the general public
  • Manage all on and off-site food insecurity programming, including Food Pantry, Food Co-op, and Grocery Deliveries
  • Manage food inventory through established procurement channels, including purchasing from the Atlanta Community Food Bank and retailers, managing community donations, and coordination with partner agencies
  • Ensure a positive volunteer experience that engages and retains volunteers through effective volunteer onboarding, group management, and recognition
  • Ensure food is stored in alignment with government and partner agency standards and proper documentation of storage is collected
  • In conjunction with the Director of Food Programs, exercise judgment in developing and executing food pantry distribution design and strategy as needed for guest and volunteer experience
  • Collect and report necessary data in an accurate and timely manner to support program measurement and development
  • Oversee onsite auxiliary services offered during pantry distribution hours, including SNAP benefits outreach, legal aid, and voter registration
  • Collaborate with Intown Development office to tell the story of Intown and the food pantry
  • Operate Food Programs cell phone during business hours
  • Occasionally operate Intown's 16-box truck for food procurement

Requirements

  • Passion for connecting with people experiencing food insecurity, including those who may be experiencing homelessness
  • 2-3 years of experience in food insecurity or hunger relief programs
  • 2-3 years of experience in volunteer management
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Excellent speaking and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Ability to work with team members from many backgrounds
  • Able to lift 40 pounds from the floor
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field (preferred)

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-2 years of experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness (preferred)
