About the position

The Food Runner at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe is responsible for creating an excellent dining experience for members and guests by efficiently serving food and beverage items. This role requires a friendly and professional demeanor, as well as the ability to anticipate guests' needs and provide timely service in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist servers with presenting menus and answering questions about food and beverage service.
  • Prepare baskets with required condiments and sides prior to serving.
  • Confirm that all orders from the kitchen are accurate and presentable before serving to guests.
  • Address members/guests by name and anticipate their needs.
  • Observe members/guests to respond to additional requests and determine when service is complete.
  • Monitor supplies and maintain cleanliness in kitchen/café areas.
  • Assist servers in keeping sections and service areas clean and orderly.
  • Collect and maintain baskets throughout the shift.
  • Maintain knowledge of menu items, alcoholic beverages, specials, and 86'd items.
  • Complete daily/weekly checklists of duties and monitor supplies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required unless currently enrolled.
  • Minimum of one year previous experience as a server or server assistant in an upscale restaurant, hotel/resort, or private club environment preferred.
  • Certification in liquor, wine, and food service including Alcohol Awareness Certification preferred.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
  • Professional appearance and ability to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to comply with standards of responsible alcohol service.
  • Physically able to lift and carry trays, kegs, and cases weighing up to 50lbs several times during a shift.
  • Ability to climb, lift, reach, bend, and stoop as needed.
  • Ability to work in a standing position and walk for long periods of time.
  • Effective communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a luxury hotel or resort environment.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
