About the position

The Food Runner at 8451 Melrose Eatery LLC plays a crucial role in enhancing the dining experience by delivering food to guests in an engaging and informative manner. This position requires a strong knowledge of the menu and the ability to communicate details about each dish creatively. The Food Runner is responsible for ensuring that food is delivered accurately and efficiently while supporting the front of house team to maintain high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare trays, plates, utensils, and napkins for service.
• Assist the kitchen with setup and restocking plateware throughout the shift.
• Efficiently deliver food from the kitchen to the guest.
• Have knowledge of every menu item and ability to explain to guests in full detail.
• Act as liaison between the service staff and the kitchen regarding special requests or restrictions.
• Work closely with the captains and kitchen to ensure efficient timing of food.
• Set up and close the expediting station in the kitchen.
• Communicate counts of items and 86'd items to the wait staff, bartenders and managers.
• Be able to do all tableside moves.
• Be able to lift and carry heavy trays throughout the restaurant.
• Mark and clear tables, as needed.
• Assist in maintaining the proper level of service on the floor at all times.
• Assist with polishing duties.
• Prepare and serve coffee and tea to the highest standard and able to interact with guests in full detail.
• Set up and breakdown the coffee station before and after each shift.
• Acknowledge guests about food details and serve dishes following standard and order.
• Any and all other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in hospitality or customer service.
• Friendly, social, and enjoys interacting with staff and guests.
• Team player with a meticulous and efficient work ethic.
• Prompt, reliable, and carries a gracious and hospitable attitude.
• Minimum knowledge of food and beverage.
• Strong personality with a determination to deliver high-level luxury service.
